Review: The Lunatic Tarot

The Lunatic Tarot by Evan Yi Feng comes in two editions: a large portfolio edition (about 5×10), which lacks borders or titles - the corresponding Rider-Waite card is pictured on the back - and a smaller edition which is set up more like a standard tarot deck.

Tarot Reading: A Baby in the Future?

Anna asks: I recently broke up with my partner of seven years, and have spent a lot of time putting my life back together. We often spoke of having a baby, but our busy lifestyles always seemed to postpone having children. Now I seem to be thinking about having children a lot. I definitely want kids, but the question is now or later. Should I do it on my own, or wait until I am with someone? I don’t feel like I’m ready to get romantically involved with anyone just yet.

Review: The Golden Tarot of Klimt

I love the artwork of Klimt, and I’ve been wanting this deck since it was released. I received it in the mail yesterday, a surprise gift from a friend. I couldn’t be more pleased with it.

Reading: Is he coming home to me?

Paul asks: I am in love with a guy (we are both American) who, two years ago, moved to Eastern Europe. He was only meant to be gone a few months, and told me when he got back, we would live together. He is still gone. We keep in contact, and he says he loves me but isn’t ready to come back yet. Is he going to come back to me, and what is in our future?

Hack-Attack Recovery

Extispex was recently hacked and we lost the site entirely for a while. That meant no readings, no articles, no updates. I’m happy to say we’re back up and running, and with a slightly different look than before. Stay tuned for new content and readings.

Review: The Gothic Tarot

I expected to hate this tarot deck. I assumed the illustrations would be cheesy and the imagery banal and meaningless. From everything I’d seen of it online, it looked more like a gothic fashion accessory than a usable, attractive tarot deck. I’m happy to say that I was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Deck Review: The Guardian Tarot

For me to love a deck, it has to be consistent in the quality of artwork, and in the evocative nature of the symbols and imagery. A few bad, unattractive, or meaningless cards can spoil the whole deck for me.  Its hard to find a deck that is consistent enough for me to want to use, and I almost always do readings with my favourite deck, Crowley’s Thoth Tarot.

Book Review - Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic

I’ve been reading Tarot for over twenty-five years, but my experience with runes is just a few years old. I resisted exploration of the runes for a long time, even during the 80s when those cheap rune sets seemed to be the fashionable accessory for every would-be witch.

The Best Tarot Pouches

Those mass-produced velveteen bags just won’t do - not for my tarot cards. Nor for my runes, stones, and other magickal goodies. But I can’t sew worth a damn, so I look for good quality bags at an economical price, which are lovingly hand-sewn. Not always easy to find - a quick google will dredge up loads of crap. So for your convenience, I’ve compiled a list of a few of my favourites. It is by no means exhaustive, and if you want to add your favourite tarot-bag maker (or yourself) to the list, then do feel free to leave a comment.
